Well, you know how much fun we have cooking with our kids and grandkids. Today, we’re going to share with you some fun with fruits and veggies. It’s really not hard to get kids to eat fruit, but sometimes, we can do it in a more special way.
Fruit Kabobs
Here, we did our fruit kabobs. We like to slice bananas; then thread bananas, grapes, strawberries, and marshmallows on skewers. Put a marshmallow between each piece of fruit. You can use any fruit that is a favorite. You can even use fancy colored marshmallows or special shapes.
For 4th of July, you can do strawberries, marshmallows. and blueberries. There you have your red, white, and blue.
Froyo Grapes
Here, we have our Froyo grapes. Grapes are a favorite fruit, but have you ever ever eaten them frozen? Frozen grapes are especially delicious and refreshing in the summer. Another fun way to eat frozen grapes is to dip them in yogurt, and then freeze them. These are called Froyo grapes.
Wash and dry the grapes. Use your favorite kind of grape: red, black, or green. Then, dip each grape in vanilla yogurt. Place the grapes on a parchment covered cookie sheet. And freeze for an hour. After the grapes are frozen solid, you may put them into a Ziploc freezer bag…If you have any left.
Zucchini Boats
And we can’t leave out vegetables. There is a vegetable that people say they have too much of, and I’ve got a great way to take care of all the extra vegetables. And that’s zucchini. We like to make zucchini boats.
Slice a zucchini lengthwise. An adult should do this part. Then, take a spoon and scoop out the seeds making a boat. Kids can help with the scooping part or making the boat. Bake the zucchini boats at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes to soften them.
Then, slice cherry tomatoes and place them in the boat. Sprinkle with your favorite shredded cheese and spices. We like basil or Italian seasoning bake for another 15 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Here we’ve put cherry tomatoes in the zucchini boats, and here we’ve made pizza boats with turkey pepperoni. But the best part of all of is eating it.
Happy feasting! See you next time. Bye!
