Dr. McVey's dental practice is not just a place of professional dental care; it's a family where celebrations are as much part of our routine as cleanings and checkups. Today, we're taking a pause from dental talk to celebrate a special occasion – the 30th birthday of our front desk and marketing whiz, Rebeca Marrufo!

Known for her vibrant personality and a sweet tooth for anything with buttercream frosting (especially strawberry cake), Rebeca has been a pivotal part of our team. As she steps into this new decade, we sat down with her to reflect on her journey, her memorable birthday in Mexico, and her plans for the year ahead, including an exciting home project. How old did you turn this year?

I’ll be turning the big 30 this year! I think this is the year where all my bones will start hurting right? lol RIP to my twenties. It’s been great and I have been blessed in so many ways.

What will you do for your birthday this year?

We usually do have. I love spending time outdoors so we will likely be doing the same this year. That’s one of the things I love about having a summer birthday!

Have you ever had a surprise birthday party?

Not that I recall, hopefully someday!

Have you ever spent your birthday in another country?

I spent one of my birthdays with my grandparents in Mexico. I won’t ever forget it as I had a special birthday dinner made by my grandma.

Do you think everyone should have the day off school or work on their birthday?

Yupp, it makes me feel special and I think it is nice to be able to spend the day with those you want to be surrounded by.

Do you prefer to eat a home cooked meal or to eat out at a restaurant on your birthday?

I love going out to eat at restaurants! But I also love having cookouts so this is a tough one. I think I would choose having a cookout over a restaurant.

What is the best kind of birthday cake? Chocolate cake, cheesecake, or ice cream cake?

Anything with buttercream frosting is my favorite! I have a sweet tooth. Strawberry cake is one of my favorites.

In your opinion, what time of the year is the best time to have a birthday?

Summer! I think anything during summer is fun. Like I said earlier, I love spending time outdoors.

What is the best age to be in your opinion?

The current one you are on. It is a blessing to live another day each day. Make the best of it everyday when you wake up.

What would you like to achieve before your next birthday?

recently bought a home so my fiancée and I have so many ideas for projects. One of the big ones is adding a fence. Our goal is to get it done next summer, so I am hoping it is all completed by my next birthday.
